Love Song of A Sea Urchin (at the request of Mr Alexy)

I, sooty hedgehog of the sea-street,
prickly pear of drowned deserts
need you to dive to the rescue, scoop up
my yolky goodness, lick me off your picnic spoon.

Squid-ink me your grafitti on white cliffs
with shaky cartilage pen: 'My sea-wise urchin,
beggar for a poet's words, I shall return
to smooth Sardinian beaches for your thorny love.'

:)

Oh no, not another Sardinian beach!!!

I like the playful nature of this poem, although as I recall, finding the sand was sometimes a rocky proposal.

Aish,

Love this. It belongs on the other blog too, I think. Just a thought re: the last line--try "thy thorny love" and see how it sounds. I don't know why that came to mind or if it fits, but it's the only "nit" I have. Is this recent? Great to read you.

Lori will remember-- on a beach we went to in Sardinia, -- a long descent, kinda sandy and small -- a family were plunging in for sea urchins, opening them on the cliffs and eating the golden inside with plastic spoons :)
